The children enrolled at the Child Care Center at White Mountains Community College (formerly NHCTC-Berlin) have spent hours enjoying the new preschool loft that was built at the center. The loft was constructed in the Woodshop at NH Correctional Industries here in Berlin. Manager Mark Boivin, who designed the loft, ensured that it was of the highest quality. All made by hand, the loft is constructed of rock maple, is carpeted, and has many "extras," such as a bookshelf, carvings, artistic woodburning, and is as smooth as silk. Upstairs on the loft, the children enjoy looking at and reading books. The plexiglass is double-paned, which greatly reduces the noise level below. Beneath the loft, the children and teachers have set up their "dramatic play" area. The loft was purchased through a grant from the Agnes Lindsay Trust and classroom fundraisers. On the loft with children are four of our excellent teachers, Jess Roy, Lisa Simonds, Nancy Murphy, and Heather Johnston.
