Judy and Sandy bring lots of early childhood experience and are looking forward to working with parents and meeting all the North Country child care providers. Their office is located at the White Mountains Community College Berlin campus, but they will be traveling all over the North Country with the goal of helping families with child care needs, helping child care providers with training needs, and assisting those who wish to provide family child care in their homes. According to Sandy, her favorite part of her new job is visiting family and group homes and meeting the child care providers. Sandy comes with lots of experience operating family and group child care and is excited about sharing her knowledge. Judy's social work background blends nicely with Sandy's to provide guidance for families looking for child care and setting up exciting workshops for parents and providers. Being located on the Berlin campus will certainly help in getting the word out about credit and noncredit courses. The college library has a wonderful collection of CCR&R resources, books and videos accessible to anyone. Materials can be obtained by your local state library through inter-library loan. Check out the upcoming workshops and look for an increasing variety of workshops and credit courses in future DCE brochures.
What makes CCR&Rs unique? Using their ability to gather information to better understand family needs allows them to be a major source of information about the local supply, cost, and issues of child care. They collaborate with other family support services to promote a holistic vision of child care that includes health, literacy and special needs. By providing resources, documenting community needs, and creating new ways to meet those needs, CCR&Rs bring the voices of children, families and child care providers to the public.
Judy and Sandy's office is based in the Berlin Campus, Room 146. They are available for consultations, educational resources, and child care site visits. They can be reached by phone, in person, or by email. All services to parents, child care providers, and the community are free of charge.
