Thirty-one students were recently inducted into the prestigious Alpha Kappa Chi Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at New Hampshire Community College of Berlin. Guest speaker, Lincoln Robertson, Professor of Mathematics at the college advised the audience, "These people are brilliant ... one day they will be our bosses, and we should adore them greatly."
Academic excellence is the hallmark of Phi Theta Kappa. To be considered, a student must be enrolled in a regionally accredited institution offering an associate degree program; must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or greater for all courses taken; and must be of good moral character and possess recognized qualities of citizenship. After qualifying for induction, students must still be invited to become a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Chapter Advisor Grace Hixon has said these students have, "enriched their lives while striving for academic excellence." Hixon was also recognized by the chapter for her dedication and 10 years of service towards the honor society. She was presented with a letter-opener as a small token of the society's appreciation.
