CCSNH-Berlin Partners with North Country Education Services for Professional Development Day

Thirteen faculty and staff members from New Hampshire Community College in Berlin will be joining forces with educators from near and far for the annual North Country Professional Development Day, scheduled for Friday, October 6. The annual event is organized by North Country Education Services (NCES) and is comprised of presentations, workshops, and exhibits of interest to North Country teachers and paraprofessionals. This is the first time the College and NCES have worked together on the professional development day.

The partnership was the idea of Deb Stewart, Professor of Teacher Preparation at CCSNH-Berlin, who serves on the Board of Directors for North Country Education Services. "This partnership is a great opportunity for NHCTC professors to share their expertise with public school educators from the North Country. It also provides a chance to collaborate on programs, curriculum, and best practices," says Stewart. According to Stewart, "It's always a privilege to work with Lori Langlois, of NCES."

The workshops will be comprised of full-day sessions or shorter morning and afternoon sessions. The majority of presentations will occur at White Mountains Regional High School, with select sessions at CCSNH-Berlin. The workshops presented by NHCTC faculty and staff will all be held on their home campus. The workshops and presenters from the College include the following: Anti-Lock Brake Systems, Automotive Professor Al Host; Geographic Information Systems in K-12 Education, GIS Professor Peg Heaney; Introduction to Use of Global Positioning Systems, Surveying Professor Dave Carlisle; Inspiration in the Classroom, Teacher Preparation Professor Deb Stewart; It's All About Horses and Zebras, Learning Center Director Kathleen Sosny; Personality Disorders, Human Services Professor Sue Ellen Dunn; SmartBoard: Tools for the Classroom, Mathematics Professor Lincoln Robertson; Systems Thinking: What is it and Why Does it Matter? Registrations will be accepted until September 30th. Individuals may also register by phone at 800-268-5437 or 603-466-5437.
