NHCTC Welcomes Berlin Native as New Instructor

There is a new member of the New Hampshire Community College "family" in Berlin. Corey Fecteau, a Berlin native, joins Phil Slocum in the Mobile Equipment and Diesel Technology Department. Fecteau has been on board since January and is enjoying his time with the students at the college, "It's been great to be welcomed into such a great institution and be able to work with such a fine group of colleagues and students."

After graduating from Berlin High, Fecteau headed to Calais, Maine to attend school at Washington County Technical College. He earned a diploma in Mechanical Technology, concentrating in heavy equipment maintenance and operation. After graduation, Fecteau left northern Maine and returned to New Hampshire where he worked as a fleet manager and lead mechanic in Lancaster, and a maintenance supervisor at the mill in Berlin.

Since joining the college, Fecteau has worked closely with his freshmen students, and enjoys the hands-on shop environment. As an instructor of mobile equipment and diesel technology, Fecteau is teaching his students about the importance of maintenance and repair of heavy equipment including engines and air conditioners. Currently he is teaching three courses: Heavy Duty Air Conditioning Systems, Diesel Power Systems, and Fuel Delivery Systems. The extensive program offers students the option of a one year certificate, or a two year Associate Degree.

Fecteau will be attending the upcoming Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, or SkillsUSA-V.I.C.A., competition for high school students. The competition has the students competing in a number of events testing their skills from engine repair to hydraulic repair. Fecteau said that the top students may be able to compete in regional or national competitions.

Fecteau looks forward to a long career at the school and is glad to be back in the town where he was raised. He brings a fresh outlook and a wealth of knowledge to the ever-expanding department, and is a welcomed addition to the NHCTC staff.
