Fall Book Discussion Series

The New Hampshire Community College Fortier Library and the Berlin Public Library are pleased to announce the return of the Fall Book Discussion with this fall's series "Journeys to the Edge," set to begin August 24. The series will feature four books with discussions led by independent scholars Marion Schafer, Rick Agran, and Kristen Lane.

Marion Schafer, a Professor of English at NHCTC in Berlin, will kick off the series Wednesday, August 24 at 7 p.m. with a discussion of the book Shadow Divers by Robert Kurson. Rick Agran will facilitate two discussions. The first will be held Wednesday September 14, at 7 p.m. for Ann Mariah's book Running North, and the second on Wednesday October 12 also at 7 p.m. for Wind, Sand, and Stars written by Saint Exupery. The final discussion with Kristen Lane will cover the Nat Philbrick book, In the Heart of the Sea Wednesday, November 16 at 7 p.m.

The discussions are sponsored by the New Hampshire Humanities Council, the Appalachian Mountain Club, and New Hampshire Public Television with financial support from Hinkley, Allen & Snyder, LLP and the Marshall Family Fund of the Northern New Hampshire Foundation.

All four of the sessions will be held at the Fortier library at the NHCTC campus in Berlin. Books for the series are available for loan at both libraries. For more information, please call the Fortier Library at 752-1113 or the Berlin Public Library at 752-5210.
