Author Visits CCSNH-Berlin

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and to make the community more aware of this problem, CCSNH-Berlin recently hosted a book signing and presentation by Emelia Dion Hardy. Ms. Hardy grew up in Berlin with an abusive father and has recorded her childhood experiences in the book Why Daddy, Why? Ms. Hardy read from her book in front of a packed room of students, staff, faculty, and people from the community. It was an emotional moment as she read the recollections of a small child experiencing the violence that no human being should inflict on another. Although her childhood was one of extreme abuse, she not only survived but has chosen to make meaning of her life as a protest against violence and a testament to the power of love and hope. If the book helps just one person then it has served its purpose.
