Child Care Program Expands Services

New Hampshire Community College - Berlin Campus is happy to announce that its Child Care Programs have expanded to include a new service. Beginning July 1st they will be providing Child Care Resource, Referral, Recruitment, and Training (CCRRR&T) services for the Berlin/Littleton area, including all of Coös County and 17 towns in Grafton County. Coordinators of the service, Pat Finnigan-Allen and Susan Blais, whose vision is to unite and support child care providers in the North Country, are excited about this new service, and want parents and providers to call and stop by to discuss their child care needs. "We intend to reach out to the communities and assist providers with recruiting, training and credentialing staff, licensing programs, and meeting national accreditation standards. We'll be a home base for early childhood professionals that models high quality care," says Finnigan-Allen.

The CCRRR&T agency's central office will be located at NHCTC, 2020 Riverside Drive in Berlin, 752-1113, ext. 1462, or toll-free 1-800-445-4525.

CCRRR&T Counselors will reach out to parents to provide child care referrals and give them useful information about early care and education and out-of-school time options, and referrals to other human services as needed, as well as information about quality and price. Written materials will be available to support all families in their role as parents including information about child care licensing regulations. "We want parents to come to us for free referrals and information that best meets their child care needs," said Blais.

Coordinators of the RRR&T program, Pat Finnigan Allen, Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education and Susan Blais, Director of the Child Care Programs at NHCTC, are looking forward to working with child care staff and consumers of child care. Two positions are available for CCRRR&T Counselors, and educators are invited to apply. State applications may be obtained through the Division of Personnel at www.nh.gov/hr or at CCSNH-Berlin.
