Automotive Program At CCSNH-Berlin Receives National Certification

The Automotive Technology program at New Hampshire Community College in Berlin has completed a grueling evaluation leading to certification by NATEF (National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation) and the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). To achieve this coveted recognition, the College's automotive program underwent rigorous evaluation of strict industry standards in areas such as instruction, equipment, and facilities. Under the direction of Professors Dan Lavertue and Allen Host, the automotive program has been certified in the areas of Brakes, Electrical Electronic Systems, Engine Performance, and Suspension and Steering.

Upon completion of the evaluation, NATEF recommended that CCSNH-Berlin be certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. ASE is a national non-profit organization which tests and certifies repair technicians, in addition to certifying automotive training programs.

Automotive Department Chairman Allen Host says "During the past few months we have worked closely with NATEF to make certain our program would meet strict industry standards, and we are extremely pleased to join the ranks of the ASE certified training program." This certification speaks to the fact that our program meets or exceeds the high standards being sought by industry, continues Host. "It is a great feat for the College, but more importantly, will benefit our students. They will be graduating from our institution will the competitive edge that employers look for," says Host.

"This is great news for students contemplating furthering their education in automotive technology," said Donald Seyfer, NATEF Chair. "This program increases cooperation between local education and industry leaders, it gives added assurance that CCSNH-Berlin graduates will be employable entry-level technicians. As a result of the quality education provided by CCSNH-Berlin, the motoring public will benefit since better repair technicians will join the workforce."
