Alumni Reunion Highlights--Fall 2000

Greetings,

Our first alumni reunion of the new millenium is now a memory - an enjoyable one, we hope, for those of you who were able to attend. Those of us on campus, as well as the many faculty and staff members who joined us, were truly excited at seeing you again and reminiscing about the time you spent with us. For those of you who were unable to attend, we hope to see you next time.

Saturday afternoon was spent on campus. Whether walking the halls, visiting the alumni hospitality room in the new student lounge and playing a reminiscent foosball game, savoring the treats prepared by culinary instructor Steve Griffiths of the Class of '91, enjoying a hayride around campus, or just hanging out in the cafeteria enjoying the live music provided by Brad Wilson of Berlin while socializing with old (just a figure of speech!) professors, staff, and each other, everyone who attended was enthusiastic about their visit back to the college. A raffle of items donated by the College Bookstore was held and the winners were as follows:

NHCTC t-shirt - John Ciociola, Automotive, Class of '83
College mug - Richard Ouellet, Electricity, Class of '68
Keychain - Line (Leveille) Host, Accounting, Class of '79
NHCTC hat - Donald Ladd, Management, Class of '74

A quick change of clothes and we were all off to the Town & Country for dinner, dancing, and more socializing. Alumni President Dan Lavertue, Class of '69, welcomed the group and kicked off the festivities. Following dinner, the guest speaker, President Alex Easton, was introduced, and his remarks were followed by a special presentation to Pierre & Tracy Beloin, Accounting, Classes of '78 & '79 respectively, of Rosemead, CA, the alumni who travelled the farthest. They received a certificate for a night's accommodation at the T&C. Richard Marchesseault, Manufacturing Tech, Class of '90, won the 50/50 raffle and the winners of the alumni drawing were:
Birches Gift Certificate - Cindy (Murphy) Dearth Nursing, Class of '70
Reunion t-shirt - John Ciociola, Automotive, Class of '83
Basket of goodies - Greg Moore, Culinary Arts, Class of '94
NHCTC Vest - Tracy Beloin, Accounting, Class of '79

Many alumni and their guests attended the evening event. President Lavertue recognized the members of the first graduating class, Class of 1968, who were in attendance: (l-r) Richard Ouellet, Electricity; Donald Wakefield, Machine Tool; Fleurette Coulombe, Culinary Arts; John Ramsay, Machine Tool; and Robert Wilcox, Machine Tool.

An early bird drawing was held for those alumni sending in their reservations for the reunion by the mid-August deadline. Colleen (Gagnon) Rhoades, Nursing, Class of '86, was the lucky recipient of a night's accommodations at the Town & Country; Robert Wilcox, MTP, Class of '68, won a night's stay at the Royalty Inn; Karen (Simmons) Adams, Accounting, Class of '90, won a WalMart gift card; and an Irving's gas certificate was won by Denise Bergeron, Office Tech, Class of '98.

In firming up plans for the weekend, we became aware that, for some reason, many local alumni did not receive the newsletter, and we're sure this is true for others as well. One of our goals over the next few months is to review our mailing list more carefully and follow up on the missing links. For some it will probably be as simple as checking telephone directories and updating; others will require more legwork and that's where we need your help. We're looking for individuals interested in joining us, either as class reps contacting members of your class or helping us by updating the address of a fellow alumnus you're in contact with. Just call one of the officers (President Dan Lavertue, VP Chris Nicoletti, Secretary Laurie Carrier or Treasurer Gloria Bacon) at 603-752-1113 or 800-445-4525, or email us at alumni@ccsnh.edu and we'll get back to you.

Preliminary plans for next year are underway, and we hope to have our next get-together in early Fall 2001. It was suggested that we combine this weekend with a "homecoming" of sorts for the whole college, with current students, their families and friends also enjoying a special weekend of activities. Please don't hesitate to make any other suggestions or ideas for activities you'd like to see incorporated into the weekend. We welcome any and all input - this is, after all, YOUR association, and we hope you become actively involved in its operation.

Reminder: Your $5 membership dues are what keep the mailings coming so ... if you haven't already done so, take a minute to send that out to us with an update on how and what you're doing. We'd really like to share current info with others, and we're sure you'd like to catch up on how fellow alumni are doing also.

Members wishing to make a tax-deductible donation toward the Scholarship Fund are encouraged to do so at this time. Individuals contributing $100 or more will be recognized on a Founders Plaque which will be displayed on campus. We hope to present an award to a returning senior this spring.
