NHCTC-Berlin and UNH
When William Gallagher graduated from high school he was not ready, he says, for "the commitment that university requires." Wanting to prove himself, he chose NHCTC Berlin because it was close to home, and he could "take classes at my own pace, at an affordable price." It couldn't have been a better choice for William, now a University of New Hampshire English major with plans to teach in Japan for a few years before returning to the USA to write.
"To those considering NHCTC, it's ideal," says William. "You don't have to deal with bureaucracy and can interact with some pretty incredible professors on a personal level." Of his transition to university life, he says he was "completely prepared, seemingly much better so than my peers." He cites his courses in history and in English as particularly helpful, noting that all of his credits transferred seamlessly when he entered UNH as a junior.
He adds, "To those considering UNH, I highly recommend spending two years fulfilling gen eds [general education courses] at NHCTC first. The quality of education is identical. The only difference is price and service, both of which NHCTC excels at by comparison."
Of course, William's own work ethic has also contributed to his success. He graduated from NHCTC as first runner up for the President's cup (highest academic average in the graduating class), then earned highest honors during his first semester in Durham. Still, of his education at NHCTC he says, "A better value does not exist."
