Scholarships at White Mountains Community College

Students are urged to investigate private scholarship opportunities. Many religious organizations, clubs, businesses, banks and individuals provide scholarship assistance. The following are examples of such voluntary assistance.

The NASA Challenge Scholarship

Next round of funding available for Fall, 2006
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: Application and all related materials must be delivered to the NHCTC Foundation in person or by mail no later than 4:00 p.m. on June 30, 2006.
Award notification will be mailed by September 1, 2006.
Eligibility: Full or part-time students who are enrolled in associate degree or certificate programs in science, mathematics, math/science teacher education, engineering, or technology and who have a demonstrated interest in pursuing further education or a career in fields of interest to NASA and PSNH. 2006 guidelines include students enrolled in a teacher education program who are interested in teaching math and science.

White Mountains Community College Scholarship (formerly NHCTC-Berlin Scholarship)

The $1200 White Mountains Community College scholarship is available to graduating seniors from the following Coös County high schools: Berlin High, Gorham High, Colebrook Academy, Groveton High, Pittsburg High, Stratford High and White Mountains Regional. Applicants must be accepted as matriculated students in one of the degree programs at White Mountains Community College by April 1st. Recipients will receive four (4) equal payments of $300, provided they maintain full-time status and uphold a 3.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average.

Androscoggin Valley Hospital Scholarship

Part of the Nursing Leveraged Incentive Grant/Loan program, which means funds are provided by Androscoggin Valley Hospital with a match by the Postsecondary Education Commission. The loan/grant is available to nursing students who are New Hampshire residents and who have completed at least one term of the nursing program. Preference is given to local community residents who are most likely to be employed at AVH. Awards are based on merit and need. Applicants must have filed an FAFSA to be eligible. The loan part of the grant is cancelled if the recipient(s) work full-time in the nursing field after obtaining certification.

Caterpillar Dealer Excellence Scholarship Program

Available to students enrolled in the Mobile Equipment Technology degree program. Awards are made on the basis of need or scholastic aptitude. Students must have filed a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to apply. Applications are made available to students upon acceptance to the program.

Paula Drouin Memorial Scholarship

Established by Paul & Sally Drouin and their family in memory of their daughter, Paula, who was an accounting student during the 1984-85 academic year. It is awarded to a student who most exemplifies Paula's great positive spirit and attitude, enthusiasm, and achievement in the area of accounting. Applicants must have filed a FAFSA to be eligible.

Edgar C. Smith Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to non-traditional nursing students from New Hampshire who demonstrate satisfactory academic achievement, a proficiency in the nursing arts, financial need, and a desire to learn. Applicants must have filed a FAFSA to be eligible.

Nursing Faculty Scholarship

Awarded in memory of former nursing instructor, Terrie Judge. It is given to a student from New Hampshire with exceptionally high academic achievement who best represents the caring and nurturing qualities held by Terrie. Applicants must have filed a FAFSA to be eligible.

Kiwanis Club Scholarship

Part of the Governor's Success Leveraged Incentive Program. It offers scholarships to students, preferably from the Berlin/Gorham/Milan area. Applicants must have completed at least one semester, and awards are based on merit and need. Applicants must have filed a FAFSA to be eligible.

White Mountains Community College Athletic Scholarship

Available to students from New Hampshire who have participated in athletics at White Mountains Community College. Applicants must have completed at least one semester and awards are based on merit and need. Applicants must have filed a FAFSA to be eligible.

Assisting People in Transition Program

Provides financial support, as well as academic and career counseling, to qualified students. Any matriculated student who is a single parent or displaced homemaker may qualify for funding. Financial aid support can help subsidize the cost of tuition, childcare, travel, and textbooks.
